A quick look at rookie De’Andre Hunter’s rating in the upcoming NBA 2K20 video game.
When the Atlanta Hawks gave up a king’s ransom to move up 4 spots in the 2019 NBA Draft to select De’Andre Hunter at #4 overall, many pundits and NBA draftniks responded with surprise and skepticism.
While Hunter was a highly decorated collegiate prospect that was widely regarded as the best perimeter defender and one of the highest-floor prospects available in his draft class, giving up so much in order to acquire him seemed like a stretch to many.

Clearly, Hawks General Manager Travis Schlenk only listens to his own intuition as well as his draft team’s thoughts, and they deemed Hunter to be the best selection at #4 overall in terms of fit and potential going forward.
Indeed, the Atlanta Hawks are well set-up going forward, as they seemingly have an excellent young core in terms of fit – with not glaring weaknesses among the team’s young players (except maybe backup point guard).
Hunter can guard multiple positions, attack closeouts and drill his three-pointers with Trae Young and John Collins providing the rest of the offense on their own.
With the NBA 2K video game franchise’s upcoming NBA 2K20 on the horizon, many of the NBA’s biggest names were given ratings – including the biggest-name rookies such as Zion Williamson, Ja Morant, R.J. Barrett and the aforementioned Hunter.
Here are the ratings of each player per NBA 2K20’s Twitter:
As you can see, not unexpectedly, Zion tops the list with an 81 with Ja and R.J. sitting with a 79 and 78, respectively. Hunter is tied for 4th with #5 overall pick Darius Garland with a rating of 77.
Right now, that seems about right, as Hunter has yet to actually play an NBA game, but there is a chance his rating could quickly improve if he is able to immediately contribute to the Atlanta Hawks in a major way.
