With the 2019 NBA Draft and free agency in the rearview mirror, let’s delve into the potential starting lineup for the Atlanta Hawks during the 2019-20 NBA season.

After a 2018-19 campaign that saw the meteoric rise of Trae Young as well as the more steady and less flashy – but no less effective – contributions of fellow rookie Kevin Huerter, the Atlanta Hawks added a multitude of new faces this offseason via the draft, free agency and various trades.

Atlanta Hawk General Manager Travis Schlenk was certainly busy this offseason, as the 2019-20 roster will look far different from last season’s – as will the team’s starting lineup.

Last year, the Atlanta Hawks trotted out an opening night lineup versus the New York Knicks of: Trae Young at point guard, Kent Bazemore at shooting guard, Taurean Prince at small forward, Vince Carter at power forward and Alex Len at center.

Three of those player are currently not with the Hawks, and Len was later replaced by Dewayne Dedmon as the starting five (and is now currently a member of the Sacramento Kings).

Obviously, the starting lineup will look far different this year than it did to start the year in 2018.

Just how different will it look? Well, one reason is that third-year big man and beloved youngster John Collins should be healthy to start the season, which means he will surely slide into a starting role. Ditto for second-year swingman Kevin Huerter.

But what of the other positions? Read on to explore how the Atlanta Hawks starting lineup might shake out for next season, including the addition of a notable rookie to the starting fold.
