A quick look at what will be holding the attention of Atlanta Hawks fans throughout the 2019-20 season.

For Atlanta Hawks fans (and NBA fans in general), the 2019-20 season can’t get here soon enough. After a whirlwind offseason in which multiple superstars swapped teams, the league has been irrevocably altered and a new NBA champion seems exceedingly likely.

For the Hawks, a lot of moves were made, the most impactful of which came during the 2019 NBA Draft, when the team traded up for De’Andre Hunter, took Cam Reddish at #10 and traded up in the second round to draft Bruno Fernando at #34.

According to a recent story on ClutchPoints by Paolo Songco, the Hawks have three major storylines that should capture the attention of Hawks fans next season. They are as follows:

First up was an honorable mention of Chandler Parsons on the comeback trail. After a nightmarish stint with the Memphis Grizzlies, Parsons might get some solid run with the Hawks as a backup small forward. If he can recapture some of his Houston or Dallas magic, that’s another talented shooter on the wing for the team.

The three major storylines are fairly predictable: Vince Carter’s farewell tour, the improvement and continued rise of gifted point guard Trae Young as well as how the team’s young nucleus jells throughout the season.

Carter has already stated that he believes his farewell tour will be “awful,” though it will be nice to see a player in an Atlanta Hawks uniform getting heaped with praise and adulation.

The latter two storylines are much more enticing for the future of the franchise, as Young’s development might be the single-most important aspect of the outlook for the Hawks – other than how the three rookies play alongside their slightly more tenured teammates.
