Checking in on the Atlanta Hawks’ G-League squad, the College Park Skyhawks.
The Atlanta Hawks’ first year G-League team has their first handful of games under their belt, going 4-4 through 8.
Two-way player Charlie Brown leads the team in scoring (outside of Tyrone Wallace, who played one game) with 19.8 points per contest.
The guard is also the team leader in rebounds and just behind Brandon Goodwin in assists.

Speaking of Goodwin, the other two-way player, has averaged 17.5 points and the aforementioned 7.4 assists per game to go along with 2.1 steals.
Unlike Charlie Brown, Goodwin hasn’t appeared for the NBA squad just yet, but with these impressive numbers, combined with the 16 games he played with the Denver Nuggets last season, he should see some time soon.
Outside of Brown, only Ty Wallace and Bruno Fernando have also double-dipped between the two teams.
Wallace scored 26 points, while Fernando scored 9, pulling down 9 boards and swatting 2 shots. Both should see more time down there when John Collins and Kevin Huerter get back.
Cat Barber, who has bounced around various teams in the G-league leads the Skyhawks in points, outside of those who can go up to Atlanta.
He averages 14.3 points per game on 45% shooting.
Marcus Derrickson, who appeared in 11 games for the Golden State Warriors last season is right behind him with 13.4 points, and doing so effectively with a 51% clip from the field.
Both Barber and Derrickson are unrestricted free agents and any team (including Atlanta) can swipe them away at any time.
In terms of looking ahead, I wouldn’t be surprised if Cam Reddish suits up for the Skyhawks for a game or two when Kevin Huerter returns, as the Duke product has struggled finding his shot in the early going.
A trip to College Park could certainly help that.
Things are going well enough in the inaugural season for the G-League squad, and it certainly is nice to finally have the team right here in Georgia.
Stay Tuned for more updates regarding the Skyhawks, and of course, the Atlanta Hawks.
