New York shot 55% from the field on the night, by far passing the 48% clip that was their previous season-high.
The Hawks’ 45% is no too shabby I suppose, but the real difference were the rebounds.
Mitchell Robinson’s 13 help lead the Knicks to a 55-36 advantage on the boards, although the eye test proved to be even stronger for New York. They really seemed to grab every 50-50 ball.
Trae Young was outstanding as the lone highlight for Atlanta, tying his season-high with 42 points.
He made 7 of 13 attempts from three, adding 8 assists and 4 boards, embarrassingly just one under the team-high.
He desperately needs more help, and luckily enough, John Collins is slated to miss just 2 more games before he can return from suspension.
In terms of help he did get, rookie De’Andre Hunter finished with 19, and a respectable +/- of -4 given he played 31 minutes of the 23-point loss.
Old man Vince Carter put up 15 on 5 of 9 shooting, swatting two New York shots away as well.
The ugly loss moves the Atlanta Hawks into dead last in the Eastern Conference standings. They now sit at 6-22, dropping their past five.
They’ll look to avoid making it six straight losses when they return home to face the Jazz on Thursday night.
Tip is scheduled for 7:30 EST. Don’t worry; we’ll have the recap right here if you miss.
