Previewing and predicting the month of January for the Atlanta Hawks.

The Atlanta Hawks could use a good month of play.

They won two then three games in their first two full months of ball, entering the new year with a 7-27 record overall.

Atlanta didn’t quite take advantage of their schedule, which dipped after being the hardest in the league through November.

Tankathon has the Hawks with the 23rd weakest remaining schedule however, so things are still going to easier than harder.

In January, they’ll play:

More from Soaring Down South

January 3rd: @ Boston

January 4th: v. Indiana

January 6th: v. Denver

January 8th: v. Houston

January 10th: @ Washington

January 12th: @ Brooklyn

January 14th: v. Phoenix

January 17th: @ San Antonio

January 18th: v. Detroit

January 20th: v. Toronto

January 22nd: v. L.A Clippers

January 24th: @ OKC

January 26th: v. Washington

January 28th: @ Toronto

January 30th: v. Philadelphia

They’ll get pretty comfy at home, playing two stretches of three straight at home, with nine games in total in Atlanta.

Only once do they play two road games in a row.

If the Atlanta Hawks were able to salvage this season and end the year hot like they did last year, this would be the month to start.

John Collins will be appearing in his first full month of play, and the Hawks are nearly completely healthy – Trae Young is expected back for Friday’s game against the Celtics.

A player to watch would be Brandon Goodwin. For a team without a true back up point guard, it would surprising if they didn’t keep the two-way player around after his breakout performance to end 2019.

He’s appeared in just five games thus far, and has plenty of time up with the NBA squad on his two-way deal. The Hawks could give him this month as a tryout, then sign him for the rest of the year later, like they did with Jaylen Adams a year ago.

Next. Could John Collins play center?. dark

It’s also the final month before the trade deadline, which I suspect the Hawks will be participating in this year.

It should be a fun January for the Hawks, and hopefully they can win more than three games.
