2. True Stars

The Hawks lost the game, but it was in spite of John Collins and Trae Young, who were both great on the night. Trae’s 37 points were a bit inefficient, needing 27 shots and 14 free throw attempts to get there. But he was the lone offensive piece clicking on the night, and needed to force a couple from time to time.

‘Ice Trae’ showed up in the second period, when he took over the entire game for a bit. The Magic might have ran away with the game earlier if he didn’t score those 20 second quarter points. His assist-to-turnover ratio of 11:2 is one of his best in quite some time.

It’s easy to get used to his scoring, but you can’t take 38 points in 37 minutes for granted.

John Collins was also good, and continues his red-hot stretch from deep. He hit 3-5 from long range, and is now shooting a clean 50 percent from three in February.

He added two blocks on defense, although he’s had better days on that side of the court.

Trae and JC are obviously the future of basketball in Atlanta, and eagerly await Clint Capela playing alongside them.
