Ranking the best lobs from Atlanta Hawks star point guard Trae Young.

Trae Young does many exciting things on the court for the Atlanta Hawks. Deep threes, surgical floaters, leg-splitting nutmegs, and head-turning dimes all highlight his game.

Perhaps his most signature move is the lob, however, with Young using pinpoint accuracy and great timing to hook up with whatever big man is cutting to the basket. It has made him a dynamic duo with elite rim-running forward John Collins, and he’ll also appreciate Clint Capela‘s jams whenever he’s ready to play.

Here we’ve taken a look at Trae Young’s best lobs of the season, narrowing it down to the three best of the year:

#3 – Connecting with Jones in Texas

While Trae most commonly lobs to John Collins, his connection with Damian Jones was underrated this season, especially when Collins was suspended. The athletic center put an exclamation point at the end of this lob, a dot from Trae who was being double-teamed.

#2 – One-hander to JC

You’ve heard of double-clutch layups, but what about double-clutch alley-oops? Young jumps, clutches, and fires off a very-high lob to the patiently waiting Collins.

This is one of those lobs where Trae makes something incredibly hard look incredibly easy. He’s moving at full speed in transition, cutting through defenders and skies the ball above all four Mavs. It’s poetry in basketball.

#1 – Half-Court Dot

I honestly think this is one of the greatest plays of Trae Young’s career. He is in trouble –double-teamed feet away from the half-court line. He sees Bembry cutting and fires a 46-footer while falling away with perfect accuracy.

The strength, poise, and accuracy are unreal here, and Young’s dot helps put the game away for the Atlanta Hawks.

Honorable Mention – Bembry Reverse

Another long-range dime to DeAndre’ Bembry. Trae sees the open man before anyone else in the building, connecting with Bembry who finishes with a pretty reverse.

Next. 3 Atlanta Hawks who could be traded this off-season. dark
