The Atlanta Hawks will need to cut down their turnovers to be successful this year

One of the things point guard Trae Young addressed in his post-game interview on Friday was the number of turnovers that he and the Atlanta Hawks committed in the 116-112 loss to the Magic. The Hawks managed to trim the number slightly but still turned the ball over 18 times on Sunday to their 23 on Friday night.

A lot of these turnovers we can attribute to there being a total of 9 new guys on the roster. The new players will need time to adjust to head coach Lloyd Pierce’s style and to Trae Young’s pace. Still, giving up 22 and 14 points off of turnovers won’t get it done in the regular season.

The Hawks still haven’t solidified their starting lineup or rotation so it’ll be very interesting to see if Lloyd Pierce and his staff put a premium on ball security, especially when Trae Young isn’t on the floor.
