Atlanta Hawks game against the Phoenix Suns postponed
The Atlanta Hawks game against the Phoenix Suns has been postponed due to health and safety protocols.
Welcome to the NBA in 2021, the Atlanta Hawks were due to play the Phoenix Suns. Unfortunately due to health and safety protocols, the game has been postponed per Woj of ESPN. This is the first Hawks game postponed for the year and comes just after the updated health and safety protocols were announced.
The reason for the postponement was the Suns had recently played the Washington Wizards who now have several players out due to health and safety protocols. Unfortunately, the Wizards have a player who has tested positive on their roster.
When Lloyd Pierce was asked last night about the potential of the game being postponed, he was philosophical. He said that every minute, every hour and every day is going to be an adjustment in 2021.
How this postponement benefits the Atlanta Hawks.

The Hawks were going to assess Rajon Rondo before the Suns game to see if he was fit to play due to his knee issue. This will now give the Hawks an extra day or two to continue to rehab Rondo’s knee and he could be available for the game against the Utah Jazz on January the 15th.
The Hawks had also listed rookie Onyeka Okongwu as probable for the matchup against the Suns as he is almost recovered from his toe issue. His return will add some more depth to the Hawks bench which has been decimated with injuries.
However, the biggest benefit for the Hawks is that center Clint Capela was listed on the injury report as questionable with soreness in his right hand. Capela has been the catalyst for a much better Hawks defense and his offensive rebounding has been crucial in the Hawks offense.
The NBA is yet to release any details of when the postponed game will be played.
