Why the Atlanta Hawks would agree to the trade.

While the Hawks are looking to get something back for Collins, they are not going to take a box of tissues and a cream cake. They are going to try and fill a need with this trade and P.J. Tucker does just that.

Currently, the Hawks are not able to defend the paint when Clint Capela goes to the bench. Teams take advantage of the easy path to the hoop and it is hurting the second unit. Tucker has the ability to start at the power forward spot and move to the pivot when Capela is off.

He helped the Rockets getting to the playoffs playing center despite being only 6’5″ but he plays so much bigger. He also has the ability to play smaller and can basically play every position on the court with the exception of the point. The versatility he offers a team is incredible.

Then there is the matter of his shooting. Tucker is happy to take corner 3-point shots all day long. The man also has the ability to hit the 3-ball from the corner, shooting 38.5 percent from there over his career and 56.5 percent this season.

At 35 he can also play the mentor role in a similar manner to Vince Carter in his final years in the NBA. Tucker will be around next season and should get a decent contract from the Hawks.
