Then we come to Kurucs, who was taken with the 40th pick in the 2018 NBA draft. He was such a surprise in his first year that some pundits were saying he was going to help speed up the Brooklyn Nets rebuild. Then the team signed Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant and they put his development on the back burner.
Kurucs has the ability to hit the 3-ball at 33.3 percent as well as working hard on the glass. He is a good ancillary piece to add to the trade and would provide some decent minutes off the bench. If he does not work out, he is on a minimum deal with 2021-22 being a team option so is a zero risk player.
Where the Hawks get continued benefit out of this trade is the 1st round pick which belongs to the Milwaukee Bucks. While there is a good chance that the will be a late first-round pick, who knows what will happen next season.
It gives the Hawks some capital should they want to make another trade or they could draft a player in a draft that could be very deep to fill a need on the roster.
