Atlanta Hawks: Trae Young joins very exclusive company

The Atlanta Hawks knew that they had a good one when they drafted Trae Young. Much was made of the fact they traded back to get him rather than selecting Luka Doncic but Young is special in his own right.

Now that the Hawks have managed to get a team of young exciting players and solid veterans who compliment the point guard, we are going to see Young put up numbers in a winning squad. Doncic has always had a solid team around him, Young has not.

This season has not started the way the Hawks would have wanted but things are starting to get back on track. The Hawks are starting to get their players back from injury and are a good chance of making some real noise in the Eastern Conference playoff race.

The numbers that I am talking about are the times that Young has had 40 points and five assists in his career. In the last game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Young had 43 points and five assists in just 31 minutes.

This is the 13th time that Young has collected a game of these numbers. What is impressive about this is that only two players have had more games of 40 points and five assists before their 23rd birthday.

Rick Barry had 15 before his 23rd and LeBron James had 17 before his 23rd birthday. That is the entire list of players who have more games with these numbers games than Young. The scary thing is, that Young is 22 years, 127days old at the time of writing.

This means that Young has 238 days before he turns 23. He has 57 games left of this season where he can collect the numbers to pass these two legends of the game. If he can get five more then he will be at the top of this very exclusive list. It would take a brave human being to bet against him doing this.
