Darius Bazley is one of the most exciting and athletic future prospects in the league. He has gone from a role player last season to a starter this season. His play in the bubble shows the potential that he possesses. He has another two and a half years of growth on this team-friendly rookie contract. His rebounding and floor-spacing ability would help the Hawks out.
Isaiah Roby is an interesting prospect who is showing more and more as the season progresses. He has the ability to space the floor, defend the rim, and plays the point center role in transition offense. He would be a tremendous backup to Clint Capela.
But Hill is the interesting piece of this trade. He offers the ability to play the backup point role as a savvy veteran but also can play off the ball and space the floor. He led the NBA in 3-point percentage last season with the Milwaukee Bucks. While he is out for the next few weeks with a thumb injury, the Hawks would benefit from his play long term.
Hill has also got a non-guaranteed portion of his contract for next season which if he does not work out the Hawks can not pay if he does not work out. The Hawks have a tremendous team when they all come back from injury, so Hill is not a deal-breaker if he does not fit.
If the players aren’t enough to get this trade across the line then the Thunder could also include one of their war chest of first-round picks they managed to accrue over the offseason. To get a player like Collins, it would be worth it.
