Since the Atlanta Hawks and John Collins failed to reach an agreement for his contract extension there has been the thought that the Hawks would try and trade him. Then it was leaked that Collins and Trae Young had their differences in a film session about getting into the offense.
As a result, the internet has been alive with rumors about where the 6’9″ power forward out of Wake Forest could end up. Which team would offer the Hawks the best potential return for Collins that would tempt them to move him?
Through all the discussions around the internet, both Collins and the Hawks have remained professional. Neither party has mentioned the possibility of a trade, choosing to focus on trying to win basketball games.

According to Bleacher Report, the Hawks are now listening to offers for Collins. With the trade deadline more than a month and a half away, I would be surprised to see any action via trade for Collins as the Hawks can still sit back and watch the trade market unfold before moving on Collins.
Collins, who is averaging 18.1 points and 7.8 rebounds per game this year is continuing to get better every time he hits the hardwood. Being at the end of his rookie-scale contract, Collins value may take a hit as whoever gets him will only be guaranteed to keep him until the end of the season.
However, the Hawks would be asleep at the wheel if they did not at least entertain offers for Collins. They have a long-time starter in the league, Danilo Gallinari, ready to step in should Collins get traded.
As stated earlier, it would not be surprising if nothing happened as a result of these rumors. However, if the Hawks have too many more games like the recent loss against the Spurs the Hawks may pull the trigger on a deal.
