The Hawks have developed one of the best bench units in the entire NBA. They have combined some veteran talent with some of their younger talents. It is a combination that is proving to be incredibly effective.
They are led by the best shooting big man in the league, Danilo Gallinari. He is a top candidate for the sixth man of the year award with the way that he is shooting the ball and rebounding when it is called upon.
Williams has already developed a relationship with Okongwu in the pick and roll which helps the entire second unit. On top of that Williams has displayed his instant offense which is helping the depleted Hawks, just imagine what his game will be like when he is surrounded by even greater talent.
Reddish has the talent to take over defensively from Hunter when the starting wing needs a break. Kevin Huerter can also play the secondary ball-handler role which is being played by Bogdanovic in the first unit meaning that all the parts are basically interchangeable.
As mentioned earlier, Okongwu is developing his pick and roll game with the help of Williams to an NBA level. His defense and energy are infectious on the whole unit but he does have to work on lowering his foul count. That will come with time.
Of the players left on the bench, Solomon Hill has the greatest potential to get court time with the second unit given his experience and his defense. The rest of the players will basically only get junk time when the team is healthy.
