The Atlanta Hawks have benefitted from the rookies signed by Travis Schlenk

The Hawks have three rookies on their roster this season, Onyeka Okongwu, Nathan Knight, and Skylar Mays. Both Knight and Mays are on two-way deals which are of little benefit this season given the G-League bubble was only for a month and the Hawks affiliate team did not participate.

However, the two of them have shown that they have potential and there is a good chance one or both will be signed again as two-way players next season. Knight has played well in a few games, including his 12 point outburst at the start of the season.

Mays had very little impact on the Hawks at the start of the season As the Hawks injury crisis deepened just prior to the All-Star break, Lloyd Pierce turned to him after an impressive junk time performance and Mays got some decent playing time. McMillan has barely used Mays, he has not needed to with the addition of Williams and the return of Bogdanovic.

Okongwu has been one of the stories of the second half of the season for the Hawks. He has formed a bond with Williams on the court which is based on the pick and roll offense. Until McMillan and Williams joined the team, Okongwu was almost going to be considered a bust. Now he is showing the NBA that he can play at this level.
