Atlanta Hawks: Lou Williams makes some more history.
When the Atlanta Hawks traded Rajon Rondo to the LA Clippers for Lou Williams, they knew what they were getting. The veteran, who is now in his 16th year, has come off the bench 19 times for the Hawks out of 20 games since the trade.
In that time he has averaged 10.8 points, 3.5 assists, and 2.1 rebounds in 22.3 minutes per game. He has shot the ball at 39.4 percent from the floor, 44.8 percent from deep, and 85.7 percent from the free-throw line. These numbers are impressive despite his recent shooting slump.
Where Williams has been incredible for the Hawks is in the fourth quarter. His heroics during this period have propelled the team to a number of victories that they would have lost earlier in the season. He has also developed an incredible connection with rookie Onyeka Okongwu which is beneficial to both players and has helped the Hawks bench become one of the best in the NBA.

The three-time sixth man of the year has been making buckets off the bench for a long time now. So far the season Williams has scored 206 points off the bench which has helped pass the 13,000 point mark off the bench.
What is historic about this is that he becomes the first player in NBA history to achieve this feat. He is almost two thousand points ahead of the next two players, Dell Curry and Jamal Crawford who were incredible off the bench as well.
Williams is not done yet as he is only 34. He will continue to play in the league for a few more seasons. When he eventually hangs up the sneakers he will have set an incredibly difficult number to catch meaning this record will stand for a long time.
The reason for this is most players want to start for their franchise, Williams has always felt more comfortable coming off the bench. The Hawks are certainly enjoying his production since he came across.
