A further benefit for Young and his paint penetration is that the defense can collapse from the perimeter to try and stop Young. This then leaves shooters open from deep and the Hawks are putting the right players out there to make the shots.
Young is also able to make something out of nothing. As mentioned earlier, he found Snell for the game-winner against the Toronto Raptors. Also, in a recent game, he was falling out of bounds, seemingly cut off from all options. He then perfectly executed a behind-the-back, cross-court pass to Snell who made the shot from behind the line.
It is this type of play that creates doubt in the minds of the defense, creating more open shots for himself and others. However, he is also able to find players that not many others can. One play that comes to mind was when Bogdanovic was cutting one way, then turned back towards the hoop, beating his defender. Young saw it unfolding and executed the perfect pass.
The scary thing is that Young is just going to get better. This playoff series is going to show how his game translates into postseason action. He has so many facets to his game that if you shut one down, he will hit you with another.
