Atlanta Hawks: Lou Williams comments show complete faith in Trae Young
The Atlanta Hawks took game one of their first-round series against the New York Knicks. The Knicks had a chance to win it twice. Both times Julius Randle took the shot and both times he missed.
The first shot that he took was from beyond the 3-point line. He bricked it so badly that he only just hit the backboard. It would have put the Knick up by three points, meaning that the Hawks would have had to shoot a 3-ball if they were to tie it and sent it into overtime.
The other shot that he took was with only 0.9 seconds left of the clock. There was no time to do anything but catch and shoot. Unfortunately for the Knicks, Randle made the decision to catch it not facing the hoop. He turned and shot the ball missing everything. It would not have mattered if he had hit the shot, he let it go after time expired.
The Atlanta Hawks had complete faith in Trae Young.

Throughout the season Trae Young has been happy to either take the last shot or to pass the ball to a teammate in a better position to take the game-winner, showing maturation in his game. In the first playoff game of his career, there was no question who was going to take the shot.
Scores were level when Young drove to the hoop. He hit the right-handed runner with just 0.9 seconds left in regulation, giving the Hawks a two-point lead and the win. Players dream of taking the last-second shot during the playoffs just once in their career, Young did it in his first playoff game.
What is so impressive about the whole thing is Lou Williams‘ comment after the game. During the final timeout, he said to Young, not to pass the ball, to take the final shot. This shows the Hawks have complete faith in their leader to make the final shot, to make the right play in the most pressurized moments.
