There have been some question marks over whether Young’s style of play would translate into playoff basketball. According to his critics, Young is a foul-baiting type player and that is where he gets most of his points.
Young has shown that he loves the challenge and the heat of the cauldron that is the NBA playoffs. He is only the fourth player in league history to compile a 30-point double-double on his first playoff game in Madison Square Garden.
The other three players are Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Patrick Ewing, and Michael Jordan which is some incredible company to keep. He dealt with the verbal abuse which came his way and rose above it. He took the Hawks to a win in the first game.
He backed it up with another 30 point effort in game two but other factors impacted the Hawks’ ability to win. Now that the Hawks have two games at home, Young will have the full support of the crowd, which will help the rest of his team too. He knows the importance of winning both games so will most certainly be up for the challenge and will certainly take some stopping.
