The Atlanta Hawks have a superstar in their ranks. We have known this since Trae Young hit the court three seasons ago but he confirmed it with his play in the postseason. The Hawks made it into the Eastern Conference Finals on the back of his incredible play.

He captured the imagination of the Hawks faithful with his dynamic scoring and passing. He even started changing the narrative around him with playoff performances where he created history on numerous occasions and displayed what he could do on national television.

Due to the Hawks playing losing basketball in recent years, the NBA did not reward them with national coverage. This is why it is incredible that Young’s jersey is the eleventh most popular in NBA sales for the second half of the season.

It is notable that the Hawks are not in the top-10 of the NBA in popular team merchandise. There are many reasons for this but the main one is their profile over the last three seasons has been low due to a lack of success.

Now that they have the right coach for their playing group locked in for four years and an incredible young core, they should be in a good position to grow this profile. Mind you, they are fighting in a very crowded marketplace.

The Brooklyn Nets big three are all in the top ten of sales jerseys, two-time MVPs Giannis Antetokounmpo and Stephen Curry are both also in the top ten. Luka Doncic, Devin Booker, Jayson Tatum, and Damian Lillard are also above Young in jersey sales.

The No. 1 player in jersey sales is LeBron James, which is a position that he will probably remain in until he retires. However, these players have all had much longer in the NBA to build up their following. Young has just completed his third year and it is the first time he has made the playoffs. Young is going to capture the hearts of the next basketball generation.
