Goodwin originally signed on with the Hawks on a two-way deal prior to the 2019 season starting. A month prior to the COVID break, Goodwin had that contract converted to a full, two-year deal. which was incredibly lucky for Goodwin. I say lucky but he earned that deal.
This season Goodwin was paid $1.7 million which was really good value for the Hawks. His minimum contract was one of the reasons that the Hawks were able to sign so many players during the offseason. It would be a good move to re-sign Goodwin in free agency

With Goodwin being the third-string point guard behind Young and Rondo for the first part of the season, and then Young and Williams for the second part, not much would be expected of him. He had a number of games at the start of the season where Rondo was out where he performed quite well.
However, as the NBA season is long and arduous, even the third-stringer may be called upon for a major role. When called upon Goodwin answered the call more often than not, meaning that his season was a true success. He could have made a difference in the playoffs if he was healthy.
