The Atlanta Hawks have already had an interesting offseason. They lost the services for Onyeka Okongwu for six months and the impact of this is going to be felt for the first part of the season. They also have extended a qualifying offer to John Collins, making him a restricted free agent.
The Hawks can take a couple of paths to replace Okongwu. They can go with a cheap free agent who they can either keep or waive. Another option that the Hawks could have available to them is to get a player who can replace both Collins and Okongwu.
One such player would be Sacramento Kings’ power forward Marvin Bagley who the Kings have reportedly made available prior to draft night. The 22-year-old has spent three seasons within the Kings system and has not developed a great deal in this time.
The Atlanta Hawks should have an interest in Marvin Bagley

To put it simply Bagley is a really good option for the Hawks. He has range on his shot so is quite adept at playing a stretch-four role. On top of that, Bagley is 6’11” so can easily slide into the backup center role when Capela is off the floor.
However, there is a question of the cost involved and that is always a sticking point when it comes to these deals. The Kings would be after a pick and a player and it seems that the Hawks are offering the combination of pick No. 20 and Cam Reddish to move up the draft. The question is, would they be able to interest the Kings in just Reddish?
This does mean that the Hawks will need to extend Bagley this season if they want to keep him. However, the Hawks, if they don’t overpay for Collins, letting him walk, will have some decent cap space in the coming seasons in order to accomplish their goals of keeping players.
Currently, the Hawks are not considered to be a team that is interested in the third-year pro. However, should they get the opportunity to secure his services, this is one trade they should certainly consider.
