The NBA calendar does not stop with the finals finishing on the 20th of July. The draft is then on the 29th of July, and then a week and a half later, the NBA summer league commences. The Atlanta Hawks announced their first four games starting on the 8th of August.

The Hawks take on the Boston Celtics at 4 PM on the 8th, followed by the Indiana Pacers two days later.  On the 12th of August, the Hawks take on the 76ers with their final game being against the Heat on the 14th of August.

This is going to be an exciting time for the Hawks as they will be introducing their new draft picks to their fan base. They will also be playing some of the younger players from last season who did not get the opportunity last season thanks to COVID-19.

The Atlanta Hawks are looking at some exciting times.

The Hawks are looking to build on last season’s success. As such, they need to use of summer league in order to find the next player who is going to help take the team forward, be it in a cameo role or by providing good bench minutes for the franchise.

It is unfortunate for the Hawks and Onyeka Okongwu that the sophomore has recently had shoulder surgery and will not be able to participate in the summer league. He could have used the time to work on his game, improving his offensive capabilities to benefit the team next season.

If they do not sign elsewhere, last season’s two-way players Skylar Mays and Nathan Knight will also be looking to work their way into a full contract. This will work well for the Hawks as the competition for places will push every member of the summer league team to perform at their best.
