Atlanta Hawks: 3 goals for Sharife Cooper for the 2021-22 season
The Atlanta Hawks had a really good 2021 draft with Travis Schlenk again appearing to find talent with non-lottery picks. He took Jalen Johnson with the 20th pick in the first round and Sharife Cooper with the 48th pick in the second round.
This appears to be a masterstroke as both rookies will have an influence on the roster throughout the season. Both players slipped lower than were expected and they both fit the needs of the Hawks. Johnson has been signed to a rookie scale contract while Cooper has signed a two-way deal.
What is a tremendous boost for the Hawks is that Cooper was slated by some analysts to go late in the first round. The fact that he was still on the board so late in the second round means that the Hawks have seriously upgraded their guard rotation.
The Atlanta Hawks will watch Sharife Cooper closely in this year’s summer league.
Unlike the 2020 draftees, the Hawks will have a summer league campaign to assess their rookies and start to develop them. It will be one of the many storylines to look out for in this edition of the Las Vegas summer league.
Cooper will be playing with some players with varying levels of NBA experience who are all looking to get their careers back on track. This could be possible but it will not be at the expense of Cooper who the Hawks think very highly of.
With all that in mind, let’s take a look at three goals for Sharife Cooper in the 2021-22 season.
