On paper, this team is one of the most exciting and talented in the league and is more than strong enough to contend for the Eastern Conference title. The rebuild has been fast-forwarded thanks to a number of fantastic moves over the course of the last three years. Of course, this team couldn’t be put together without letting some players go in other directions.
The sacrificial lambs this summer were Bruno Fernando and Kris Dunn as they departed for the Boston Celtics as part of the three-team trade that bought Wright to the Hawks. Nathan Knight is also on his way out as he signed a two-way contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves, we thank you for your time with the Hawks, good luck for the future!
Overall, the past 12 months have been a fantastic time to be an Atlanta Hawks fan. The growth on the court, as well as the confidence in the workings off of the court, make for a great combination. Atlanta’s ability to lock down their franchise faces for the next five years cannot be overlooked and the willingness to build around them is what every player wishes to be a part of.
The league is beginning to take notice of Atlanta and hopefully, the work being put in now will create a market that will interest players and fans from all over!
The Hawks are a team talked about within basketball circles in the UK and other countries. All the attention is usually reserved for the Los Angeles Lakers, Golden State Warriors, and Boston Celtics. This is particularly so now that a televised opening day game has been confirmed and a long-awaited return to the NBA Christmas Day slate is upon us.
Trae Young and the rest of this Hawks squad are putting the league on notice and demanding global respect and recognition. Long may it continue!
