Atlanta Hawks: The possible implications of signing Timothé Luwawu-Cabarrot
The Atlanta Hawks signed five-year veteran Timothé Luwawu-Cabarrot to a training camp contract earlier in the week. While this is not an earth-shattering move, Luwawu-Cabarrot offers the Hawks an interesting option should they feel that he fits their needs.
Luwawu-Cabarrotis a really solid defender who has played for four different teams in his time within the league. His most recent team was the Brooklyn Nets where he was playing alongside Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and James Harden, all ball-dominant players.
His role was simple when he hit the court. He was to defend the best guard or wing player and space the floor. Luwawu-Cabarrot took 4.1 of his 6.1 shot attempts per game from beyond the arc. Unfortunately for Luwawu-Cabarrothe had a poor shooting season, only making 31.4 percent of his attempts.
The Atlanta Hawks have some flexibility with Timothé Luwawu-Cabarrot.

The Hawks have shown that their front office is very forward-thinking. They signed Nate McMillan as an assistant coach at the start of last season and when they fired Lloyd Pierce they promoted the veteran to the head coaching role.
They also traded for Danilo Gallinari in case John Collins decided to take his talents elsewhere in this offseason. This showed that they are willing to make a call which helps the team now and potentially into the future, making sure that they are not burned by factors outside their control.
The Hawks are probably safeguarding against the rumors which are circulating about Cam Reddish. The Hawks may be able to include him in a trade for another star which could open up some time on the wing where Luwawu-Cabarrot could slot into.
If not, then Luwawu-Cabarrot is a solid training camp signing who will work hard in scrimmages, helping the Hawks improve their chemistry on offense and defense. He could also work his way into some sort of contract as the Hawks have one roster spot open adding more depth to the wing position.
