Sean Highkin of Bleacher Report released his top 24 players under the age of 24 and the Atlanta Hawks are represented by two players. They had Kevin Huerter come in at position 19 and Trae Young came in at position number nine.

For a player who was rated as one of the best point guards in the entire NBA, it would appear that being ranked at nine amongst players aged 24 and under is a bit of a stretch, particularly given that Young has accomplished a lot in his three-year career.

The problem is not that he is ranked so low in this article, it is some of the players who are ranked higher than him. Ja Morant, Luka Doncic, and Jayson Tatum have all produced for a number of seasons and an argument can be made for them to be above Young.

Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young needs to continue to change the narrative around him.

Young started to change the narrative around him during the playoffs last season but it appears that not everyone believes it yet. He has never been below fourth in assists per game during his career, finishing second twice behind two future Hall-of-Famers. He has also been at the top of the league in all of his three completed seasons as well.

However, Highkin rated Evan Mobley, a rookie who has been in the league for a hot minute above Young. It is the same for Tyrese Maxey, Anthony Edwards, and LaMelo Ball, all are talented players but none are leaders on a team that went deep into the playoffs last season.

The other player rated above Young on this list is Tyler Herro. Now, Herro said that he should be in the same conversation as Morant and Young but has yet to even establish himself as a starter on the Miami Heat. To say he is a better player than Young is just unfathomable. While Young has his shortcomings, he is one of the best offensive players in the league and deserves more respect.
