The Atlanta Hawks are having a frustrating time on defense at the moment. While various team members have struggled to find what is wrong with said defense, most of the players and coaches say that it is a problem with intensity and effort.

Now that De’Andre Hunter is back, the defense is automatically better. The way that he has played since his return will be pushing his team to greater things. He has been without the defensive cornerstone Clint Capela since he has come back. When the two of them are on the court together the Hawks defense is so much better.

The bench has a defensive live wire in Onyeka Okongwu and they love the way that Delon Wright plays defense. However, the Hawks need a second defensive livewire who can turn nothing into something, a hustle man to go with the energy of Okongwu.

The Atlanta Hawks need a player like Kenrich Williams.

Given that Kenrich Williams‘ nickname is Kenny Hustle, this is a bit of a giveaway as to what he is going to offer a franchise. He is always trying to stop his player on defense and will help crash the boards. This is not to mention the work that he puts in on transition defense as well.

On top of that, Williams has a good knack of snaring the long offensive rebound, giving his team another possession. Williams is the first on the floor, diving after the loose ball or he is just making himself a nuisance to his opposing player at both ends of the floor.

So, the question is, how much would it cost to prise Williams away from the OKC Thunder? Well, given the cost the Hawks were able to exact for Cam Reddish in the recent trade, the answer would appear not to be a massive amount.

If the Hawks offer the recently acquired pick from the Charlotte Hornets, the Thunder may be interested. They may also be happy to accept an expiring contract. In a buyers market, they accepted so much less for Danilo Gallinari. Williams’ hustle is exactly what this talented team needs, the glue to bring all the pieces together.
