Langston Galloway is the next hurdle for Sharife Cooper to play for the Atlanta Hawks
The Atlanta Hawks have seen a resurgence since they arrived back home and beat the Milwaukee Bucks. They went on a seven-game winning streak which was stopped on the second night of a back-to-back without the services of Trae Young against the Toronto Raptors.
Despite this loss, the team has been clicking with the starting unit appearing to be reasonably set, and the second unit is clicking. The second unit is thriving under the direction of Delon Wright whose confidence has soared since the Cam Reddish trade.
The other problem for Sharife Cooper has been the emergence of Cat Barber with the College Park Skyhawks. Since his return from being called up to the Atlanta Hawks squad due to the Covid-19 crisis, Barber has made the Skyhawks his to run and they have been successful with him guiding the ship.
Why is Langston Galloway the next hurdle for Sharife Cooper to play for the Atlanta Hawks?
The first answer to this is that Langston Galloway is a veteran of 452 games over eight NBA seasons. As the old adage goes, there are no wasted minutes on an NBA court and Galloway has played 9,840 minutes on an NBA court. This veteran knowledge and experience could be beneficial to the Hawks if he was to play for them as they try and make the playoffs.
On top of that, Galloway showed his ability to play off the ball in the recent Skyhawks game against the Delaware Blue Coats. In fact, Galloway played 40 minutes and had the stat line of 22 points, ten rebounds, five assists, and two steals.
He was also able to gel with the rest of the team as he had a plus 19 impact on the boxscore. While this number is impressive by itself, the fact that Galloway has not played very much with this team before makes it even better.
If Cooper is going to overcome this hurdle it is imperative that he learns how to play off the ball. Without this, there is a chance that he loses his two-way deal before the season ends.
