Atlanta Hawks: Cat Barber is leading CPS to the postseason
The Atlanta Hawks are well served by their G League affiliate the College Park Skyhawks. Jalen Johnson was one of the only bright spots in their most recent loss to the Detroit Pistons. Sharife Cooper is also starting to show some great promise, particularly playing off the ball when Cat Barber is on the court.
They are providing a tremendous one-two punch which makes the most recent victory against the Windy City Bulls. What is even more impressive is that Cooper did not play against the Bulls, meaning that Cat Barber was left to run the team by himself.
Fortunately, since the Hawks signed Barber to a 10-day hardship contract during the Covid-19 crisis at the turn of the year, Barber has been a revelation. He has played with incredible confidence and led the Skyhawks into the most unlikely playoff spot which is theirs to lose with three games remaining.
Atlanta Hawks G League affiliate the College Park Skyhawks are almost playoff bound.
After going winless for the first six games of the season, the Skyhawks are two wins away from securing a playoff berth. It has been a team effort to get to this point and the second win in a row against the Windy City Bulls was no exception.
Justin Tillman is surely worth a look for a 10-day contract with the Hawks as he had yet another double-double against the Bulls with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Ex-NBA player Langston Galloway stepped into the role that Cooper plays and added 21 points to go along with four rebounds and three assists.
However, it was Barber who was the star of the show. He had 28 points to go along with 14 assists and six rebounds. While he did have nine turnovers, his impact on the game was undeniable. His was plus 29 on the box score which was a team-high. If the Skyhawks can get two more wins, Barber is one of the main reasons that they will make the playoffs.
