The College Park Skyhawks did all that they could do this season. After starting out 0-8 the Atlanta Hawks G League affiliate did something that not many would have thought possible early on in the season, they made the G League playoffs.

Unfortunately for the Skyhawks, they came across the Capital City Go-Go who had been a better team for most of the season. On top of this, the Skyhawks were without the services of their starting point guard, Cat Barber.

Since being called up by the Hawks during the Covid-19 crisis, Barber has found another level in his G League play. To put it simply, the Skyhawks would not have made the playoffs if Barber had not gone up that level. Unfortunately, the point guard was not able to overcome the wrist injury he sustained prior to the final game of the regular season.

The Atlanta Hawks should look at signing some of the Skyhawks players.

Now that the season is over, the Hawks should look at signing at least one of the Skyhawks players. With his wrist injury, now would not be a good time to sign Cat Barber. He would be a good third or fourth point guard should something happen to Trae Young.

Earlier in the season, I suggested that the Hawks should sign Justin Tillman to a 10-day contract. I still believe that if the Hawks signed Tillman to a rest-of-season deal then he would be an asset to them in the playoffs. He is another Onyeka Okongwu style of player who plays with complete heart and soul.

Another interesting option would be to sign Langston Galloway to a deal. The Hawks have an open roster spot and a shooting guard, Bogdan Bogdanovic, whose knee is causing him to be questionable before each game. Galloway has NBA experience and has shown that he can play in the Skyhawks system which is similar to that of the Hawks.

One thing is for sure, if the Skyhawks can keep this core together, as well as adding another first-round pick into the mix for next season, they are going to be a good unit. All that they have to do is stay healthy.
