The Atlanta Hawks have many roster decisions that they need to make in the coming offseason. One of these is whether they need to make is whether they need to make a Bogdan Bogdanovic trade based on his troublesome knee injuries.
The good news is that Bogdanovic has a month longer to rehababilitate this knee and therefore has a chance of making it through the entire season. This is going to be crucial for the Hawks moving forward if they do not trade Bogdanovic.
What the Serbian sharpshooter offers the Hawks is tremendous floor spacing. He is also one of the few players on the roster who can create his own shot and is able to take the pressure off Young in the clutch. Without this, the Hawks find it incredibly difficult to score with the defense pressing on Young.
The Atlanta Hawks need a reliable second option behind Young
The biggest problem for the Hawks this season is that they have not had a consistent second option behind Young. They had so many players step up but injuries and illness stopped them from having any on court consistency.
This meant that the Hawks were not able to get any consistent streaks going like they did last season. This stopped them from ending the season in a decent seeding which in turn led to them being the eighth seed which had them bundled out in five games by the Miami Heat.
If Bogdanovic can become the reliable shooting option like he was last season when he set a Hawks shooting record then this would be so beneficial. While he did win two sixth man of the month awards this season, the Hawks did not have enough consistent firepower throughout the season to win enough games.
If Bogdanovic can have his best, most consistent season yet then the Hawks can build around the chemistry he has with Young. This will only benefit the team if they can pair Young up with a second star who can consistenly produce as well.
