The Atlanta Hawks are looking to get their season back on track. In order to do this, they need to get players who are able to contribute straight away. Now that the Toronto Raptors have waived Alex Len, could he be the answer as the backup big?
Len played one and a half seasons with the Hawks from starting in the 2018-19 season. His tenure ended with the franchise when he was traded with Jabari Parker last season to the Sacramento Kings for Dewayne Dedmon and two second-round draft picks.
In the time Len was with the Hawks he played 117 games, starting 40 of them. He averaged 10.3 points, 5.6 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 0.9 blocks, and 0.4 steals in 19.6 minutes per game. He shot the ball at 50.9 percent from the floor, 33.8 percent from deep, and 64.3 percent from the line
The Atlanta Hawks should seriously consider Alex Len.

The Hawks are struggling a little when Clint Capela goes to the bench, His play has been outstanding but the Hawks still do not have a backup big man who can play effectively at both ends of the court.
At 7’0″, Len has the size to fill the lane. He has also averaged 1.0 blocks for his career so is happy to challenge shots in the lane. He is also able to swallow up rebounds, preventing second-chance points from hurting the team too much.
During his time in Atlanta Len also developed a 3-point shot, taking 2.2 per game, making them at 33.8 percent. This shooting will help the entire team, especially as they are struggling from the perimeter this season.
Len also knows the Hawks systems well, given that the time that he was with the Hawks he played under coach Lloyd Peirce. He would not cost the team a great deal, given that he could be signed at a veteran’s minimum. They would have to waive Bruno Fernando but the results could be worth it.
