The Hawks conducted several trades during the offseason. They sent Dewayne Demon to the Chicago Bulls, and in return netted Tony Snell. The 3-and-D specialist has lived up to his reputation, providing solid defense and leading the NBA in 3-point percentage, when he is not injured.
Danilo Gallinari came to the Hawks as a result of a trade with the OKC Thunder. He only cost the Hawks two future second-round draft picks. The Thunder were looking to get the best return for the sharpshooting power forward because he was not signing with a rebuilding franchise.
Gallinari is near the top of the NBA in free throw percentage and will have to be in the running for the sixth man of the year award. His shooting, rebounding, and the veteran presence that he brings to the court when he checks in are a big reason for the Hawks’ success since the All-Star break.
All of the moves, except Dunn so far, that Schlenk made in the offseason have been a success. He has taken a lottery team from last season and turned it into a contender this season. That is why Schlenk should win Executive of the Year.
