The Atlanta Hawks have battled through so many injuries this season it seems that no one is safe. Just when it seemed they were starting to get all of their players back on the court, two more go down with ankle issues.

First, it was Kevin Huerter who went out with a shoulder injury against the Detroit Pistons. Huerter has been an iron man all season but an innocuous-looking play had him clutching his left shoulder. Coach Nate McMillan is under the impression that it is just a stinger and he should be fine.

Then Brandon Goodwin, with just over three minutes of the game, rolled his ankle on a drive to the hoop.  He had to be wheeled off the court back to the locker room. It looked like a fairly serious injury, as we await word from the Hawks as to what the extent is.

The Hawks take on the Philadelphia 76ers in back-to-back games next and they are struggling to get their players back on the court. There has been no definitive update on the ankle injuries of Trae Young or Tony Snell.

Cam Reddish and De’Andre Hunter are still working their way back from injury which is good for the playoffs but does not help now. The Hawks can only hope that Lou Williams recovers from his flu-like symptoms in time to play against the 76ers.

If not the Hawks are going to have to rely heavily on the recently debuted Kris Dunn to help cover some of the guard minutes which are now available. McMillan is also going to have to go deep into the bench and give Skylar Mays more time on the court.

Huerter is more difficult to cover for a whole game. Solomon Hill will start in his place but then McMillan is going to have to get creative with his rotations. The Hawks can play Gallinari at the wing, with Knight coming on to give John Collins some rest at the power forward position.

One thing is for sure, if the Hawks can get a win with their healthy player group in Philadelphia, then you cannot doubt their resolve. The best-case scenario is the Hawks get Young and Williams back which will give them more of a fighting chance.
