Atlanta Hawks: Pass or pursue Solomon Hill in free agency
The Atlanta Hawks signed Solomon Hill to a one-year, minimum-salary deal. He played incredibly well for the season, practically doing everything for the team as the Hawks had so many issues with injury all season, particularly on the wing position.
Hill was the player who was called on more often than not to try and fill the gap of whichever player was out. Unfortunately for Hill and the Hawks he has massive offensive limitations which cost him his spot in the rotation during the Cinderella playoff run for the team.
The question that the Hawks need to ask is whether they will suffer the injury crisis that they suffered this year, which gave Hill so much court time. It is unlikely that they will miss De’Andre Hunter, Cam Reddish, and Bogdan Bogdanovic all at the same time for extended periods of time.
Would the Atlanta Hawks be interested in Solomon Hill for a low cost?

When the Hawks are going to have a payroll of more than $130 million next season, a $2.2 million insurance policy does not sound that bad. Hill played in 71 of a possible 72 games which was not the norm for the Hawks this season. He has one of the best contracts in the NBA
Hill filled in for every single position this season and was not disgraced defensively. He can actually defend almost every position, however, with a few exceptions, he was just an empty uniform on offense. This is what the Hawks need to weigh up.
This is one of the toughest calls for a front office. They have to believe that their players will be healthy for most of the season and sign the bench players accordingly. Another question that needs to be asked is whether the Hawks want to keep their current two-way players and see what they can do, given that they did not have a G-League season.
While Hill is frustrating for so many reasons, it is always good to have a player who can fill in when required. For that reason alone, Hill deserves a spot on the roster for next season
Verdict: Pursue at a minimum deal
