Rejoice, Hawks fans. The Pac is back.
Prior to tonight’s highly anticipated closeout game against the top-seed Indiana Pacers, the Atlanta Hawks unveiled their awesome new secondary logo which is a redesigned version of the old “Pac-Man” logo the team used from 1972-1995.
The new logo will be part of the “Red Out” that has been announced at Philips Arena tonight. All fans in attendance will receive a free red shirt with the new logo.
Atlanta’s retro design featured the profile of a hawk’s head inside a partial circle and resembled the old Pac-Man video game character, hence the “Pac-Man” logo name.
The new Pac-Man logo version pays homage to the old style but features a more aggressive and predatory look with a sharper hooked beak and a more murderous-looking eyeball.
New merchandise with the new logo will be coming out this summer.
The Hawks gave fans a sneak peak and unveiled the redesigned logo Thursday morning to add more juice to the excitement of tonight’s closeout game against the Pacers. Atlanta has a 3-2 lead over Indiana and can clinch the series upset with a win at home.
