An exploration of the crunch-time scoring for Trae Young of the Atlanta Hawks.

Trae Young, the Atlanta Hawks offensive dynamo and its best rookie in franchise history, started the year off with a bang in terms of clutch scoring.

Before the season even began proper, Young drilled an insanely deep three against the San Antonio Spurs in the preseason:

Sure, all the caveats apply about it being the preseason and teams play less defense (and yada yada yada).

However, Young’s clutch triple in the preseason served as foreshadowing for what would be an astonishing display of clutch scoring during the 2018-19 regular season as well.

Most recently, Ice Trae (his nickname expertly depicting his brilliant work in the clutch, a la having ice in his veins – no shade to D’Angelo Russell of course) defeated the playoff-bound Philadelphia 76ers, who are an Eastern Conference juggernaut and feature one of the most talented lineups in the entire league.

It was of no consequence to Young, who calmly drilled a floater in the lane with 0.1 seconds left on the clock, then proceeded to do LeBron James’s famed “silencer” celebration:

For Atlanta Hawks fans and Trae’s teammates, it was an awesome moment.

It also typified Trae’s clutch performance all season, which has been stupendous. Let’s take a look at the numbers.
